The paper aims to publish the results of research conducted to persons performing activities related to health tourism who constitute subjects of growing interest for different countries and companies involved in the sector.In this context, a review of scientific literature is done in order to identify the characteristics of health tourists and differentiate them from those who practice other types of tourism.The analysis reveals the existence of health tourists segments according to the level of education, gender and income and provides insights about which of these variables contribute to a greater or a lesser extent in the decision of developing this type of tourism.
