Hu Shih ,a Pioneer of biography in contemporary China,is the first person to advance the term Biography ;the differences between Chinese and western biographies;the origin of biography and the effectiveness of personality education.He encouraged people to write autobiographies or biographies so as to provide material for historians and open new channel for literature.These ideas are of some starting significance in The Chinese Literary theory of biography.Meanwhile he published Biography of LI Chao,Self_Narration at Forty,Biography of DING Wen_jiang etc.No matter how conscientiously he pursued historical truth he attempted to employ liferary techniques in his writings.
