This article presents a project that analyzes the effect of implementing pedagogical strategies for the development of research skills by using digital environments. The project has five stages: State of art, Diagnosis, Design of an innovative proposal, Implementation and Evaluation. This applied research integrates qualitative and quantitative methodologies. In the first study we reviewed 90 papers establishing the skills and strategies required for research. The diagnostic stage showed problems in virtual research courses in the UNAD Higher Education Institution, Colombia. In the stage stage five digital environments were designed for training in research, the skills and strategies for each course were proposed, integrating the use of digital environments. Finally we conclude that training in research requires a continuous educational process and that guided use of digital environments would influence the development of student’s research skills.
