The congenital anomalies are structural or anatomical abnormalities that are present at birth, can be macroscopic or microscopic, be present on the surface or inside the body. Affecting one in 33 infants and cause disabilities 3.2 million a year. Retrospective study in which the cases reported through week 35, in the epidemiological surveillance system were studied. The aim was to characterize the congenital malformations in the Department of the Atlantic. The instrument used was the registration form and document review. As a result it was found 62% were male and 38% female; the most prevalent congenital malformation was congenital heart disease in 13.3% followed by central nervous system malformations with 11.1%.
