RESUMEN Este trabajo realiza un analisis semiotico del fenomeno del bandolerismo en Brasil, a traves de la masacre de “Angico” en el nordeste brasileno, episodio central en el ocaso de los “cangaceiros” o bandidos nordestinos. La masacre perpetrada en junio de 1938, fue el acontecimiento que dio muerte a Virgulino Ferreira, alias Lampiao, a su companera, Maria Bonita y nueve de sus lugartenientes. Este trabajo indaga en una fotografia de la masacre como situacion de etiqueta social, la significacion de las herramientas utilizadas por la fuerza publica para mitigar los efectos politicos de las cuadrillas bandoleras en el nordeste brasileno. Una de estas practicas constituyo la exposicion de los cuerpos abatidos, en aras de construir una imagen palpable de poderio y efectividad militar, a traves de la glorificacion de la justicia y su valor correctivo. ABSTRACT This lecture makes a semiotic analysis about “bandolerismo” in Brasil through the “Angico” slaughter in the Brazilian northeast, central chapter on the twilight of the “cangaceiros” or northeastern bandits. The slaughter that took place on June 1938 was the event that produced the death of Virgulino Ferreira, Lampiao, his mate, Maria Bonita and nine of his lieutenants. This project inquiries throughout a picture of the slaughter mentioned before as a social label, the meaning of the tools used by public force to decimate the political effects of the bandoliers crews in Brazilian territory. One of these practices was the exposure of the shot bodies intending to construct a vivid imagine of power and military effectiveness by the glorification of justice and its corrective valve.
