This work is a research that accounts for the divisions generated since the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen was translated from French and published by the French National Assembly in the context of its revolution. This meant the beginning of a criminal proceeding against Antonio Narino y Alvarez and his trial for high treason by the Royal Audience of Spain. The study analyzes the procedure followed in this criminal case, the authorities involved and its results.
