This research aimed at describing contributions the use of electronic corpus makes to the development of instrumental subcompetence to the translator training. This study tries to show how the use of electronic corpus as part of the development of instrumental subcompetence, not only helps translators training but also becomes an instrumental tool for the development of translation process. As methodological part, the research was based on translators in training at Universidad Autonoma de Manizales, who carried out a translation assignment without knowledge about tools related to electronic corpus. As a second research process phase, a focused intervention was carried out on the use and manipulation of tools related to the electronic corpus. As a final stage, the translators in training again made the translation request using the tools studied in the intervention. The results allowed us to corroborate that the use of electronic corpus in the translators training contribute to the development of instrumental subcompetence, translation reliability, and also facilitate the information searching.
