This research sought to understand the new meanings of the words woman, couple and mother that today have built women involved in a violent interaction with their mates and how it would help understand the intimate partner violence from a more complex perspective that takes into account the connection between micro and macro - contextual. Through an analysis of narratives of categorical type, it was observed that the stories of three women who participated in the study, not only address situations of power, control or inequality that contribute to the victimization of women and therefore their numbness to change, but also begin to observe narratives colored by desires of self-assessed , prioritized , be an example to others and mainly be builders of their life plan, then positioning themselves as protagonists of their own stories, proud of their triumphs but also recognizing the responsibility they have in their disappointments. Thus, partner violence is no longer a simply war between genres, it s also related to the tension or characteristic imbalance of a transition period where the stories about the feminine and masculine try to reconnect in a different way.
