In this research work the images characteristic det ection using wavelets for optical correlation is pr esented. Digital simulations with a Joint Transform Correlator are s hown, demonstrating that there is a promising appli cation on the optical correlation field, using multiresolution re presentation through the Wavelet transform. The ene rgy of correlation peaks and discrimination level of several objects a re improved with this technique. To demonstrate the potentiality in extracting characteristics using the Wavelet transf orm, small objects on confused scenes are detected successfully.
