In this work the process of synthesis of ZrO 2 is presented using controlled precipitation method taking as precursor the metallic salt ZrOCl 2 •8H2O. The ceramic powders were characterized with different techniques to determine their chemical composition, crystalline structures, morphology and particle size. The particles showed a nanometric size (<200nm) and spheroidal shape to specific conditions of process. The synthesis process guarantees the reproduction of the method and therefore the characteristics of the obtained ceramic powders.
