The order picking is one of the highest impact activities in time and cost in a warehouse. There are different strategies to optimize it. One is the location of the products according to the number of times t hat a product is collected over a period of time. For a better understanding of this strategy was developed an academic tool in Excel ®, which allows students to assess the economic impact of time and product placement strategies are not defined by the strategy against product placement in accordance the frequency of ac cesses. In order that the student has an academic tool friendly, easy to use, motivating and easy to learn, improvements were made to the tool implementing strategies and recommendations made in the field of interaction design. This paper presents a description of the academic tool, improvements, the results of usability testing and analysis of the test.
