ABSTRACT The technical performance of a commercial machine designed to separate green coffee fruits without using water was evaluated. In the evaluation of the machine, three flows of coffee fruit (1,500, 2,000 and 2,500 kg.h-1) and three percentages of green coffee fruits were considered (4%, 7% and 10%), in a completely randomized block design in a 3x3 factorial arrangement, with five blocks with the precedence of the coffee fruits lots as the blocking factor. The variables evaluated were the percentage of green fruits separated (associated to efficacy) and the percentage of mature fruits evacuated through the axial outlet (associated to losses). The percentage of not pulped ripe coffee fruits, the percentage of pulp in pulped coffee and the percentage of coffee beans with mechanical damage were considered as complementary variables. 98.3% of green coffee fruits was separated with the equipment and pulped coffee without mechanical damage was achieved with 50.6% of pulp and 0.79% of not pulped mature coffee fruits. With the material separated by the equipment from 0.02 to 0.09% of the ripe fruits that enter the machine (losses) is evacuated.
