This research presents an alternative to asphalt, incorporating unconventional materials such as coal tar binder so, granulated slag as fine aggregate and limestone as coarse aggregate. Thus, initially a brief description of the main characteristics and properties of the asphalt mixtures and materials is made. Then the characterization of the materials used in the mixture given by laboratory tests according to specifications of the National Roads Institute INVIAS for each of them does. The mixture is then evaluated by the Marshall test for resistance, according to the analysis of the data obtained in the laboratory tests; the mixture having the best physical and mechanical properties is established. Finally conclusions and recommendations are given subject studied.
