Colombia is one of the countries that has the largest variety of orchids. However, mainly for knowledge or report he number of species, but he study of species in relation to intraspecifc morphological, biogeographic, habitats and conservation of the species are as rare as necesary. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine aspects of history, distribution and diversity of Galeandra beyrichi. The first colection of G. beyrichi in Colombia was by Haught (1943) in the department of Magdalena, however, most reports are concentrated in 2010-2012. The floral characters tend to be variable, in particular the lip’s spur that is not expresed in some ocasions for observation. The Vale del Cauca department is where the largest number of observations are found. Aditonaly, the altiudinal range is from 3 to 160 m. The distribution is particularly Andean and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Serania de la Macarena, though, it has colection gaps asociated with the Orinoco Bioregion and the Amazon. Finaly, G. beyrichi can be considered as a potential biomarker of soil deterioration in damp forests where it has ben reported.
