This paper is a personal journey through the original work of Leon Walras in the centenary of his death (1910). It is focused on his general equilibrium model under perfect competition but framed by the choice of economic policy and regulatory criteria as it appears in the fundamental trilogy Elements d´Economie Politique Pure, Etudes d´Economie Politique Appliquee and Etudes d´Economie Sociale. It is noted that followers only interested in pure theory, disconnected the general equilibrium model from its social and applied economics, misrepresenting Walras’s original intention.
