Both international tourism and domestic tourism have always been rather limited in Colombia. The armed conflict in this country has been an important determinant in this fact. This paper focuses on domestic tourism from 1996 till 2001. Although the armed conflict has intensified in these years, Colombians have, be it in a lesser amount and in a changed manner, have continued to travel. This paper is part of a larger research and future publication on the attitude and discourse of the tourism private and public sector, local municipalities and the government who have continued promoting tourism and inventing and constructing various plans and policies in this context of armed conflict.
