Determinantes Sociales de la Salud (DSS) y discapacidad en Medellín Colombia 2012: resultados desde el registro para la localización y caracterización de personas con discapacidad. estudio multicéntrico
The objective of this work was to determine the relationship between the social determinants of health and disability in the city of Medellin. A descriptive correlational study was developed, with 45,042 records; whose instrument was the registry for the location and characterization of people with disabilities, which includes structural and intermediate determinants and the components of disability. On these, a univariate and bivariate analysis was performed. It was found that 50.3% of the records correspond to the female sex, The highest percentage of age is between 50 to 54 years (8.1%), The educational level corresponding to the basic primary prevailed with 43.4%, to the stratum 2 belongs to 49.6% of the registered persons; All those registered present some deficiency and limitation in the activity, 62% present restriction in the participation. In the bivariate analysis, all the structural and intermediate Social Determinants of Health were associated with the restriction in participation p <0.05 and those with low dependency were sex and work, contingency coefficient 0.35 and 0 , 32 respectively. It is important to conclude how the Social determinants of Health and their relationship with Disability in Medellin turn out to be multifactorial, which should motivate those who legislate in the area to retake public policies in light of the findings presented.
