To study the factors that lead some firms last hundreds of years while others disappear soon after having constituted constitutes one of the most elaborate research topics in business schools. This paper contains a list of the oldest companies in Mexico and Colombia, countries are still companies with more than three centuries. This document brings to the business history of Latin America and constitutes an example for those entrepreneurs who start the challenge of creating businesses and myths are sometimes found to indicate that a company fails the third generation. The companies presented here are examples of innovation and continuous improvement, factors that have enabled them to last for many years in time.
