The present work is a study of descriptive-qualitative type, aimed to teenagers with a diagnosis of diabetes in the Bogota city, with ages ranking from 15 to 19 years old, which had as its main objective describe the experiences of the teenagers who live with diabetes at least for two years. A semistructured interview was underwent to 15 teenagers who have such diagnosis, which made it possible to analyze the information provided through the sensations and personal experiences, it was analyzed by means of a horizontal reading the key points of each participant and by means of a vertical reading the collective responses with the aim of generating an array with units of sense that contribute to the development of the analysis. It was found that in general the teenagers never conceived having diabetes and they felt very far from the idea of having a chronic disease, most of them agreed not to know the disease before they were diagnosed. At the time of diagnosis they underwent a process that was difficult at first, but over the years they have been adapted, leaving them positive feelings, becoming stronger and valuing their lives and health, by modifying healthy eating habits to prevent short and long-term complications, to live a normal life like any other person of their same age. The teenagers who participated in the study considered and agree that the diabetes is not a disease but a condition of life which have generated to them a degree of human consciousness that projected to one vision of overcoming to move forward with goals and projects that have been proposed.
