Conflict is inherent to the human condition, it is present even in the recognition of the own identity and there is permanent tension between the essence of the subject and the tolerance to the change. In daily living, there are levels of stress that arise between the needs and the wants of individuals and groups. This situation applies to the academic area and the relations between individuals with different roles: students, educators and others in the academic community, may have differences which generates tensions and conflict. Students and teachers recognize the presence of conflict in the academic environment and say the reasons of that conflict are around the administrative, academic and relational issues, but each one speaks from his/her, role giving the responsibility to others, always in defense of his/her status. From their role, each one of the individuals has a conflict with others and within the same institution. Educators and students have a subjective role and a carried out role, which in many cases disagree among and within the prescribed role. It is these discrepancias where conflict can be simultaneously perceived in different ways by the subjects that are playing different and diverse roles. Such discrepancies will prevente any individual or collective growth from occurring at this institution.
