Termites associated to Eucalyptus spp. in a forest plantation in Magdalena, Colombia. Sampling and identification of termites attacking Eucalyptus trees were carried out at the San Sebastian forest plantation, in Colombia. Damage on the trees was also described. Close to 600 ha were surveyed for the collection and identification of termite species, where 80% of the trees were Eucalyptus tereticornis, 15% Eucalyptus camaldulensis and 5% Eucalyptus urophylla. Sixteen thousand termites were collected and identified using the transect method. The species found belonged to Microcerotermes sp. (96.97%), attacking the three Eucalyptus species, and Amitermes foreli (0.030%) and Coptotermes crassus (2.0%) were found on E. tereticornis. This paper describes the pattern of damage, its importance in the sampled area and observations pertaining to the taxonomical identification of termites.
