This article reconstructs the critical remarks on punishment (and its modern and privileged places of application) made by Peter Kropotkin after visiting several European prisons in the late nineteenth century. Therefore, the main purpose of this work is bringing forward the critical statements developed by trends of thought like Anarchism around the role of punishment, prisons and the entire penal system.
