We conducted a study which objective was to determine the use and dependence of alcohol and snuff in nursing students from a private university in Bogota. The methodology used corresponded to a transverse descriptive design. The sample consisted of a group of 67 nursing students of which 19 were in first and 48 in the seventh semester, who agreed to participate voluntarily. Two instruments were applied: the first AUDIT test that identifies the risk of consumption, dependence symptoms, and harmful drinking and second Fagerstrom questionnaire instrument to detect the consumption of snuff and estimate the degree of nicotine dependence.
