Bilberry is a plant belonging to the family of Ericaceae, its fruit is a berry blue, that their organoleptic properties and antioxidants has become a product with high demand (Cabezas et al., 2012). Vaccinium corymbosum The species is native to North America; initially he was as wild plants, and was in 1900 when it began to be domesticated. The US is the largest producer and consumer of blueberries worldwide (Negron and Subriabe, 2010). Meanwhile, in South America they were introduced in the 80s, and since then it has grown mostly in countries like Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. Chile is the largest producer in South America and second worldwide, maintaining its higher output in the counter of the northern hemisphere countries (United States and Canada) where lots of fruit exports (Pannunzio et al., 2011). The ongoing global demand and good prices have made in many countries, interest awoke to establish crops. In the case of Colombia it has begun to implement the cranberry crop due to the existence of plants with low chilling requirements (Pannunzio et al., 2011) that can be adapted well to the conditions of the tropics. Currently, it has initiated the establishment of cranberry crops, however, there is no information for the development and management of the crop in tropical conditions. There is great expectation of behavior that may present cranberry cultivation in the Sabana de Bogota, where the right conditions for growth and development of this type of plants with certain requirements of cold hours are. In addition it should be noted that other plants of the same genus are developed smoothly, as in the case of sour grapes (Vaccinium meridionale) which is listed as a promising plant, originally growing in the wild in the high Andes at altitudes of 2300 3500 m, by selecting materials that have managed to turn them into arable with excellent results regarding development, growth and fruiting (Avila et al., 2007). Given the information escaza cranberry crop in the country, the purpose of this project was to compare vegetative growth and development of two blueberry cultivars (Biloxi and Sharblue); Cajica established in Cundinamarca. This study seeks to make a contribution as a resource to those interested in implementing this type of cultivation in Colombia.
