This research aims to answer how the press may be a factor to generate or not an analytical- constructive discussion - in such a theme as is drug trafficking, based on the media scandal that occurred in 2009 and 2011 led theme issuing a call narcofiction television format (narco Tvseries) in a country as Colombia where the nation-state building has been closely associated with violent acts caused, among other factors, on drugs to the point of making stumble governance state. The methodology used was mixed when addressing the research question which was what way news stories over the hood and Escobar: Pattern of Evil contribute to generate a public debate on the impact it has had on drug trafficking in Colombia ?. Taking as the unit of analysis: The news stories newspaper El Tiempo, El Espectador and El Colombiano, in the period from August 2009 to March 2010 - 8 months - (Capo) and April-December 2012 - 9 months (Pablo Escobar, The Drug Lord) as the observation unit and the public debate on the impact of drug trafficking in Colombian society. Therefore, the data collection technique partially answers the research question because of the need to exchange opinions between daily, it was considered necessary to combine quantitative and qualitative research approaches. A body composed of 179 research newspaper articles including editorials, posters, cartoons, reports obtained etc. It can be concluded that although the press is a medium that has a great opportunity and capacity for reflection today, is used more as an advertising medium rather than criticism. Likewise, the press is being used as a channel transmitter of ideas and not as a space for analysis and reflection of social events that impact the community.
