This psychosocial intervention project aimed to characterize and promote the organization and participation of young people in the municipality of Chia. It was developed in two stages; the first involved the participation of 304 young between 14 and 28 years, there proposed to identify the sociodemographic characteristics of this population group. The second involved eight youth organizations, there was designed and implemented a intervention strategy for technical and training support for 2 of the participating youth organizations. The results obtained in the first phase indicate the importance of create proposals to encourage youth participation. As for the results of the second phase, there was evidenced the interest of young people by work in the public sphere, a finding that challenges the conventional wisdom regarding the apathy attributed to this population with regard to participation in public spaces.
