Bats of La Montana del Ocaso Natural Reserve (Quindio, Colombia). Due to high habitat loss rate in the Colombian coffee region is important to identify the areas that still preserve natural environments and on the other hand the fauna’s species remaining. The Natural Reserve called “Reserva Natural la Montana del Ocaso (RNMO)” is one of the few places assigned to the conservation in the Quindio region. In this article we are showing and update bat fauna s list of the RNMO as a result of two projects developed by Javeriana University. It was found a total of 19 species, belonging to families Phyllostomidae, Emballonuridae, Molossidae and Thyropteridae. The most common species were Carollia perspicillata, Artibeus lituratus y Dermanura phaeotis. Insectivorous bats were poor represented which could be as a result of difficulty on capture them with mist nets. The majority captured bats were generalist frugivores species, what could be attributed to anthropic intervention in the habitat.
