El complejo concepto de las representaciones sociales se emplea en este articulo como marco de referencia para comprender la forma en que los ninos y las ninas de una escuela de bajos recursos economicos construyen la representacion de violencia. Se tomo la escuela como escenario de encuentro y desarrollo de los ninos y las ninas, pues, en este sitio, es posible observar su comportamiento en un grupo de iguales y conocer en que otros espacios han experimentado formas de violencia. La inves- tigacion, que es de corte cualitativo, busco acercarse a las formas de pensamiento infantil para identificar los principales elementos de su conocimiento y actitud frente a la violencia, asi como rastrear sus principales fuentes de informacion. Abstract This paper focus on the complex concept of the social representations considered as reference in order to understand the way low income children in a school construct the representation of violence. The school was taken as stage of meeting and deve- lopment for boys and girls, since in this place, it is possible to observe their behavior in a group with children like them and to find out about other spaces those children have experimented the violence. This qualitative research aims to approach the ways of childlike thought in order to identify the principal elements of their knowledge and attitude opposite to the violence, as well as to trace their principal sources of information.
