This paper presents the conceptions of seventh semester dentistry students from the Universidad el Bosque about the quality of university teaching, applied as instruments: an exploratory survey in 10 students, a structured interview in 16 students and a focus group with the participation of 5 students with prior informed consent. This process of approaching students through this research allowed us to know that having trained teachers in values, with academic and pedagogical education, is part of having quality of university teaching; this comprehensive training significantly promotes learning and that teaching and learning methods are reconciled to promote critical thinking, something that is very important for students. Having room for socializing, for questions, discussions and readings and relevant writings promote learning through research. It is very important for students to know and be motivated to participate in different strategies and teaching methods that seek to articulate the theory with the practice, so that in this way it may be applicable in their professional lives. Thus, the use of images, videos, and demonstrations allow better comprehension processes, moreover, when these are relate to teachers’ experiences that are presented to the students through proper relationship between students and teacher; based on mutual respect and cordiality that facilitates the learning process. The teacher as a guide, that promotes dialogue, that allows questions to be asked, that has disposition and attitude towards teaching, according to the students’ conceptions, will not limit learning. On the other hand, they claim that in some areas the evaluation methods are not enough and must have more continuous assessment towards the student. Also they consider the lack of instruments and dental materials limit their
