Si bien en las sociedades contemporaneas se han logrado importantes cuotas de igualdad formal entre los generos, gracias a la lucha de las mujeres organizadas, la inequidad entre hombres y mujeres sigue siendo patente. La revision de procesos estructurales, que atraviesan tanto la vida social como intra-psiquica de ambos generos, resulta fundamental para analizar las causas que, junto al modo de produccion dominante y la ubicacion geopolitica, explican la pervivencia de la subordinacion de las mujeres. Surge asi la necesidad de revisar la construccion y operatividad del mito del amor romantico, que justifi ca y fetichiza un desigual intercambio de afectos y cuidados entre los hombres y las mujeres, y lo convierte en una practica hegemonica servil en la division sexo-social del trabajo, que ademas resulta operativa, pues garantiza en mayor o menor medida la opresion de las mujeres, de acuerdo con variables como la etnia y la clase. El presente analisis pretende evidenciar los mecanismos de accion de ese mito y las alternativas para desconstruirlo en teoria y praxis. Abstract Signifi cant contributions of formal equality between genders thanks to the struggle of organized women have been made in contemporary societies, but gender inequality between men and women is still evident. The review of structural processes consider both the social and intra-psychological life, becomes essential to analyze the causes that explain the survival of the subordination of women, with the dominant mode of production and geopolitical location. This raises the need to review the construction and operation of the myth of romantic love and fetishizes justifying an unequal exchange of affection and care between genders. In the division sex-social of labor, it makes it as a servile and hegemonic practice. Also it is an practice, that ensures –to a greater or lesser extent– the oppression of women, according to the variables such as ethnicity and class. This analysis aims to show the mechanisms of action of this myth and alternatives to deconstruct the theory and practice.
