The purpose of this article is to show the description and phenomenology of a discrepant experiment consisting of two elastic inflated balloons with different volume that are connected by a valve to control the flow of air. By assuming that the potential energy of the globe is directly proportional to its area, it follows a general expression of YoungLaplace modified to explain the discrepant event that corresponds to the passage of air from the balloon to the lower volume of higher volume. Through an adiabatic process we propose a way to measure the elastic constant of the globe. We found that for two times the initial radius of the balloon is the maximum force of the elastic walls of the globe. This prototype has been used as a research project on active learning in physics for students of engineering.
