This article explores the social representations of young people from San Cristobal, a Medellin district, about quick growing transformations of their rural territory due to urban expansion in the last 10 years. Recognizing social representations involves defining what young people know, what they think, and the way they behave regarding their changing rural context, a context that rebuilds identities, social and cultural frameworks of the territory. How is urban expansion being conceived by young people from rural territories? What is their point of view about territorial identity reconfiguration? How do they interpret and assess this reality and what are their responses?. To answer these questions a qualitative research was developed. This research was based on a focus group composed by 8 representatives of young people organizations from San Cristobal. Here, it was possible to determine the strong concern about urban expansion over country life, cultural traditions and environmental impact.
