The Maya robot is an industrial robot prototype which objective is to implement a Pick and Place process for handling, transporting and positioning of material within a flexible manufacturing cell. The robot has a versatile handling system capable to handle diverse geometries. Its architecture is hybrid and it counts with three degrees of freedom in which a position control were implemented by using an industrial controller and two microcontrollers. With the development of this machine the flexibility of the cell is improved, contributing with the automation of the manufacturing processes developed on it.
