Record of leucism in Sturnira erythromos from the central Andes of Colombia. Leucism is a phenomenon that consists the partial or total loss of a pigment with the exception of the smooth parts of the body. Globally, this phenomenon has been slightly documented in bats and in mammals in general. For this reason, here we show a record of leucism in one individual of Sturnira erythromos found in Manizales, Caldas department, Colombia, western slope of the Central cordillera. The specimen was captured using mist nets. This bat differs from other individuals due to the irregular distribution of melanin pigment in the ventral and dorsal hair, and a portion of the wings. Cases of leucism have been observed in other mammals from Colombia, but we are not aware of other cases of leucism in bats from Colombia being reported in the literature.
