This article is a reflective analysis of the educational process of clinical psychologists in Puerto Rico and Colombia. In order to do such analysis, a literature review regarding the academic and professional processes of clinical psychologists in these two countries was evaluated. Social-historical, political and cultural factors were approached; as well as those aspects concerning the education, and the clinical and investigative competences of clinical psychologists. Based on the revised literature, the reflection process and the identification of necessities; guidelines for an integral formation are proposed. Such guidelines intend to strengthen the enriching practices of each country; emphasizing the importance of providing a learning space, suited to the historical, political, economic, cultural, and social reality of each one of these countries.
