In this note we show how the mathematical induction defined on the minimum inductive structure (the natural numbers) may be generalized to any type of inductive structure that satisfies unique readability. For this, we show a theorem which generalizes the theorem of definition by induction to any inductive structure that satisfies unique readability. We illustrate with examples.
