When shadows or spots appear on an image is almost impossible to find out a unique global threshold for the entire image. Because of this it is necessary to calculate the threshold for different areas of the same image in a localized manner, taking into account the neighborhood of the pixels. This paper provides a qualitative and quantitative analysis of some of the most recognized techniques leading to the binarization of the images in the research of Oscillatory Motion using computer vision of the Research Group Robotica Aplicada of la Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira.
