The basic underlying mechanism of interdependency between psychosocial and psychiatric institutions in an urban region of Berlin is examined, mechanism which is responsible for systemic effects. Using the findings from a survey on the work of an outpatient crisis center it is showed that both interdependency as well as different network patterns result from the decisions made in the selection procedure, as to the assignment or further referral of clients.
