Estimation of the peak flows is basic for the design of hydraulic structures, environmental studies, flood control, urban planning. This paper presents results of applying the socalled MG model, for estimation of maximum flows, in Antioquia and the coffe growing region in Central Colombia and their comparison with other methodologies of hydrologic design under little historic information. The MG model was developed initially in Italy and later on it was generalized for other countries (Swiss, Great Britain, USA, Ethiopia and Peru). The representative equation of the MG model was developed by using, 110 limnigraphic flow gages. The resulting equation for the Colombian region is compared with the one obtained for Italy.
