The research done for this article consisted of the identification, description and analysis of the communication processes derived from the participation of a rural community in the Medellin Digital Project. It is framed within a Constructivist-Interpretative paradigm and a Qualitative approach. The data collection techniques employed were semi-structured interview, focus group and participant observation. It was evidenced that the participation of people in this digital literacy project promotes the renewal of some communication practices, the formation of new roles within families and the social acquisition of the project. Finally, this particular experience to approach Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) modified the lifestyle of participants, their beliefs and future education expectations, their self-esteem and their social cohesion level.
