This paper is built from the research done for the development of the thesis titled with the same name “The cultural diplomacy in Colombians foreign policy”. With this purpose there was the necessity to analyze the current cultural diplomacy exerted between the years 2001 -2012 taking as the source, all cultural actions of the diplomatic missions accredited by Colombia abroad, information found in the annual reports to Congress issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In order to make a more comprehensive and specific investigation in order to determine whether this has generated some consequence at an international level it was necessary the use of primary sources as were the annual reports to Congress within the abovementioned timeframe. Finally the theoretical approach of Soft Power was used to respond if Colombia is making effective use of the Cultural Diplomacy to generate different effects on the international context during the period of 2001-2012.
