The research was descriptive and its method was observational. 35 deaf adults participated on the study. All of them were congenital deaf and were Colombian Sign Language users. Therewere taken 35 conversational speech records that were analyzed to identify different pragmatic strategies like discursive genres, taking turns strategies, conversational strategies and so on. Theresults show the role of interactive competence as part of the interpersonal dimension of communication in a systemic model.
