INTERVENCION PSICOSOCIAL PARA EL INCREMENTO DE LA CALIDAD DE VIDA EN PACIENTES CON TRAUMA CRANEOENCEFÁLICO MODERADO A SEVERO Psychosocial intervention for the increase of life quality in patients with mild to severe Traumatic Brain Injury
This research evaluated the effectiveness of a psychosocial treatment program for the improvement of the quality of life of patients with moderate and severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Subjects were 5 men , between 18 and 33 years old, diagnosed with moderate or severe TBI, with different levels of education, without neurological or psychiatric antecedents and without neuropsychological difficulties which might impede psychological treatment. The following instruments were used: the Minimental to eliminate neuropsychological disturbances, the HADS test to measure anxiety and depression, and a quality of life questionnaire. The psychosocial treatment was carried out at individual and family level taking into account psychological and social aspects. Results show the effectiveness of psychosocial treatment in the improvement of the quality of life in patients with moderate or severe TBI. In the analysis of each of the individual aspects, it was also found significant differences before and after the treatment of the psychological and social-family aspects. To a lesser extent, there were changes in the social aspects of couples and peers and in the social-labor aspect.
