RESUMEN Las infraestructuras de datos espaciales (IDE), a causa del cambio propiciado por tendencias tecnologicas como son dispositivos moviles, sensores y web2.0, estan convergiendo hacia sistemas moviles, en tiempo real y con participacion activa de los ciudadanos. Si bien estas tendencias ya han sido analizadas e integradas como parte de las IDE en Europa y Norteamerica, en el contexto Latinoamericano no se han investigado ni desarrollado lo suficiente. Por ello, con el objetivo de contribuir con su avance en Latinoamerica, este articulo documenta el estado del arte de las tendencias en Latinoamerica a partir de una revision literaria, complementada con un sondeo sobre el estado de implementacion de las tendencias tecnologicas. Los resultados muestran que a pesar de haberse identificado importantes iniciativas de implementacion de nuevas tendencias IDE en distintos escenarios, su avance en Latinoamerica es aun incipiente, encontrandose todavia en lo que se conoce como la segunda etapa de evolucion. ABSTRACT Because of technological trends such as mobile devices, sensors and web2.0, Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) are converging to mobile systems in real-time and with active citizen participation. While these trends have been already analyzed and integrated as part of the SDI in Europe and North America, in the Latin American context, they have not been deeply investigated. Therefore, in order to contribute to its progress in Latin America, this article presents the state of the art of SDI’s trends in Latin America from a literature review, complemented with a regional survey. The results show that despite major initiatives implementing SDI’s trends; their progress in Latin America is still incipient, being still in what is call the second stage of evolution.
