The present article is a historical route, beginning with the two Kemmerer’s Missions, the Currie’s Mission, the Lebret’s Mission and the World Bank’s Mission, which wants to consider as an evidence the continuous growth in the search of prescriptions, which generate development, without accomplishing the structural changes of a complex country as Colombia needs. In that sense, some contributions will be recognized from different international missions, such as, the blunders at the moment of executing the recommendations. It is important to mention that some suggestions apply by decree, results of these missions, has contributed to the development of the country; although in another cases, those which did not have the same luck, have served to evidence “the turn governor’s willingness” to offer Colombia elements of diffi cult application, considering social, political, cultural, historical and economical experiences of another countries that preceded us on the way to “development”. The article is based in the recompilation and analysis of the documents of the different Missions mentioned.
