The planktonic foraminiferal zone of Dicarinella concavata has been found in the Cucaita Member of the Conejo Formation which is exposed along the western portion of the section Tunja-Cucaita (Boyaca Province, central Eastern Cordillera, Colombia). The presence of this zone indicates Late Coniacian age. In the western Thetys realm (Gulf coastal plain, Caribbean Sea, Trinidad), however, the Dicarinella concavata zone supposedly extends into the Lower santonian.
