Into Yahuarcaca lake, in the flood plain of the Amazonas river in Colombia, Phytoperiphytonsamples over artifitial substrates were collected. A Periphyton Multiple Sampler Equipment(EMMP), was built to study the process of colonization at four depth levels, isolated frompredators and with different maturation intervals. We put EMMP, in the litoral zone of the lake,for the hidrological periods, between January to February of 1997 and June to July of the sameyear, collecting samples with colonization intervals of 2, 4, 6 and 8 days in each period. Theexperiment showed a direct relation between the level variation of the lake and the developmentof algues species. The variation of the level was a generator factor, since it influences thephysico-chemical conditions directly. The Bacillariophytaclass was present in major density overthe two periods.
