Composition and temporal-spatial distribution of coprophagous beetles from Mariquita Tropical Rain Forest in Colombia were studied in forested and grassy areas during one year in four sampling events. Richness, frequency, diversity and distribution indexes were calculated for the populations of coprophagous beetles in both ecosystems and guild structures were considered. Results showed variations in all parameters used between ecosystems as well as between sample times. We concluded that disturbances and gaps in natural forest affect diversity and their coprophagous beetles populations, and these ratify their use as bioindicators.
