Outreach is one of the core functions of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where knowledge made in research and teaching processes are put together at the service of society. The concept of University Social Responsibility, provides the basis for understanding how a specific way should be the relationship between the university and society, enabling the development of projects with social relevance where supportive outreach projects seek the welfare of the communities over the attainment of economic resources. Under the paradigm of critical realism, born Ingenio Sin Fronteras, where a group of students, in parallel to their academic responsabilities, seek solutions to community problems that can not access to technological developments and specific knowledge. Following methodologies such as IAP and the HCD, Ingenio Sin Fronteras develops projects with interdisciplinary approaches together with communities to whom projects are. This article provides a brief description of the genesis of Ingenio Sin Fronteras, its developments and future prospects, highlighting the Trashware project that is developed into a poor suburb of the city of Bogota.
