This investigation had as objective to evaluate the reliability and validate in content and criteria, an inventory that contains twenty-six tipically colombian forms of child physical maltreatment. Two validation technics were implemented: Content validation by revision of expert judges, and criterial validation through discriminant analysis. The reliability of the instrument was evaluated by two-halves test of Guttman and alpha of Cronbach test. Participants were 42 physically maltreated declared children and girls and 36 general population children and girls with similar characteristics. The discriminant analysis showed that the inventory was able to discriminate significantly between both groups. On the other hand, the test of Guttman threw a value of 0,9138 and the alpha of Cronbach a value of 0,9192. Although these data are preliminary due to the limited number of participants, they evidence that the instrument possesses psychometric qualities
